ABSTRACT

Studies on Ostracods species in some selected water bodies in Maiduguri, was carried out for the period of four months. A total of six (6) different species were identified, belonging to the same family; Cypridoidae; namely Cypris ophthalmica, Cypridopsis vidua, Eucypris virens, Heterocypris incongruens, Cypris bispinosa and Sarscypridopsis aculeate were identified. The Eucypris virens has the largest percentage of occurrence, while Sarscypridopsis aculeate has the lowest percentage. It was also discovered that physiochemical parameters have effects on ostracods abundance and composition.
